Sinusitis

The preferred initial examination is a full non-contrasted sinus CT without contrast, which defines the anatomy of the paranasal sinuses. Plain films are not generally useful. Follow-up examinations for sinusitis may be performed utilizing a full sinus CT without contrast or the limited "mini sinus CT" protocol, depending on the complexity of the clinical situation and the requirements of the requesting physician. MRI is not indicated for the evaluation of routine sinus disease.
