Congenital Hip Dislocation in a Child

If the child is <5-6 months the preferred diagnostic test is ultrasound of the hip. If the child is >5-6 months the first test is plain films of the hips and pelvis with frog leg views. The role of CT is limited to post operative evaluation when the patient is in a Spica cast. MRI isn't normally indicated.
